The Field Guide for Families Podcast

Here, in the wet, wet spring of the pacific northwest, I am simply saturated with gratitude for the first quarter of 2025.

In January, we celebrated the New Year and Three Kings Day with family. My daughter, Sarah Alice received the coveted piece of cake that made her queen for the day and as we hiked around the breathtaking Silver Falls her cousin Lucy swept the path before her with tree boughs, treating her like royalty.

In quiet time, the Holy Spirit whispered the word “increase” for this year, telling me that the oil cultivated through crushing in 2024 would be poured out and multiplied like the widow’s in her neighbor’s jars in 2 Kings 4.

For the grand finale of winter break we frolicked on the slopes of Mt. Hood with our small group. I felt like a third grader again, sneaking bites of snow and sweating from sledding so long. The rest of January was full of deep connections with friends and family, old and new. Oh, how thankful I am for community.

In February, a dream was fulfilled as my husband and I began to lead small groups at our church; our passion for people to be seen and known spilling over. Our son kept his (completely self-driven) goal of reading a Bible chapter a day, shocking and delighting us as his battle with dyslexia has made reading a massive mental and emotional challenge. My husband practiced sacrificial love, undergoing surgery to give something precious to a stranger (more on this later) and I celebrated my thirty fifth birthday with friends.

In March, I’ve had the privilege of preaching and selling my book, Rose Lily: A Fairytale Retold (released a year ago this month), and now finally, launching a podcast with my sister!

Birthed through years of text messages, Marco Polos, voice memos, phone calls, and in person chats while wrangling toddlers, Mary and I navigate marriage, motherhood and spiritual growth together.

We invite you into lively conversations as we transparently process through difficult topics from our present and past.

I’m Natalie, (the oldest sister by a year), mother of three amazing kids and wife of 15 years to my high school sweetheart.

I am a teacher and a writer and so look forward to sharing transformative truths that have truly changed me and the trajectory of my family forever.
