Adoption Announcement

For the past couple months, we’ve been working towards our life-long dream of adopting, and today we get to share some big news! We are now an active, hopeful adoptive family.  This means we are officially approved to adopt anywhere in the US! We are pursuing infant adoption and are open to older children in sibling sets.

My husband and I recently completed our required adoption education on a variety of  topics including child development, trauma, attachment and transracial adoption. There was a mountain of paperwork associated with the home study and agency application processes that we completed along with all the needed background clearances, personal interviews and home inspection. We have been fortunate to work with a wonderful social worker to complete our home study. Our adoption consultant, Susan VanSycle from Christian Adoption Consultants, has also been incredible to work with. She helped us complete our adoption profile book that will be shown to expectant mothers who are considering making an adoption plan. We chose to work with Christian Adoption Consultants because of their high ethical standards. As we navigate the ups and downs of the adoption process, we are very thankful for a wise and encouraging support system.

Our goal in pursuing adoption is not simply to welcome a new child, or children, into our family. We desire to be available to support women and families facing crisis pregnancies whether they choose to parent or choose to make an adoption plan. We are simply holding our heart, hands and homes open for however God chooses to fill them.

It might surprise you to know that adoption expenses can easily total over $50,000. We have been saving to adopt for a couple years and are grateful that we’ve had the funds to get this far in the process.

I’ve had many conversations with the Lord about the cost of adoption. One time in particular I remember asking Him, “Why does it have to cost so much?” I knew the practical answer was a list of things: attorney and agency fees, birth mother medical care and travel expenses, etc. But the lack of government support and increasing fees perplexed me. His answer to me completely changed my perspective.

He spoke to my heart,  “Each child is worth far more to me than you can fathom, born and unborn. When you pay a high cost you demonstrate the value I have for children and a heavenly exchange happens in the spiritual realm. When you welcome a child, you invite my Kingdom to invade your home.”

He reminded me that the currency of Heaven is faith. He also spoke very clearly to me that He desired to meet our needs through our community.

So here we are. In faith and humility, we have created an Adopt Together profile. Adopt Together is a non-profit crowdfunding platform where you can make tax deductible donations towards our adoption. If the Lord leads you to give, you can do so here.

Aside from financial support, there are many other ways you can support us on our adoption journey, the primary one being prayer!

Right now we are specifically praying for:

  1. Wisdom and clear direction from the Lord to know which situations we should present to
  2. Supernatural love for the expectant/birth families
  3. Ease in travel and transition periods
  4. Financial provision
  5. Grace for the preparation and the waiting

God is the author of redemption and writes the best stories. We can’t thank you enough for supporting us in this adoption journey! You are our village.

“Behold, children are a heritage and gift from the Lord, The fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. How blessed [happy and fortunate] is the man whose quiver is filled with them…” - Psalms‬ ‭127:3-5‬ ‭AMP‬‬
